Israel’s Netanyahu rejects Hamas’ demand for ceasefire

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is rejecting Hamas’s conditions for a hostage deal that would include a total cease-fire and pulling Israeli forces out of Gaza, Families of hostages protested outside the prime minister’s residence overnight, calling on the Israeli government to bring home their loved ones.

We have live team coverage this morning on the Israel-Hamas war.

We have Alina Shirazi giving us a look inside of Hamas tunnel, but Israel says it once held hostages.

There’s a lot of international pressure on the Israelis to try to wrap up the war as quickly as possible. We see that pressure coming in not just from countries around as some of their partners and allies as well.

And what the prime minister is saying over the weekend is that these demands that Hamas has made a round of hostage talks are non-starters 1 of them would be effectively ending the war in Gaza and also pulling out all IDF troops from the Gaza strip.

The prime minister says that’s not something that they’re interested in at all at this point if their main objectives being to destroy Hamas through any means necessary and get those hostages home as well.

But today you have ministers in the EU who are meeting in Brussels today to talk about the possibility of 2 state solution. This is something else that the prime minister says the Israeli government is not on board with. but many of their allies, the U.S. and the UK included say they believe some kind of a long-term solution.

“Which other routes seriously result in Palestinians deserving a sovereign state. Israel decides that the ability to defend itself is insecurity, and other words. Unless you pursue 2-state solution. I really don’t see that there is another solution.”

And a big part of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s argument solution is for the security of the Israeli people the time we walk around Israel and talk to people compared to when we were here a few months ago.

There really isn’t that appetite on the ground for a 2-state solution or brokering a partner in peace. kind of deal.

Benyamin Netanyahu

Born in Tel Aviv in 1949, Mr Netanyahu’s family moved to the US for a few years in the early 60s.

“Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu says his country will not agree to Hamas demands for a cease-fire in exchange for the Rel of our hostages Hamas demands the end of the war and the withdrawal of our forces from Gaza. If we agree to this, our Warriors will fall in vain, and the next October 7th will only be a matter of time.”

On October 7th, last year around 3,000 Hamas forces stormed across defenses from Gaza into Southern Israel, killing at least 1,200 people, including Israelis and Foreign nationals, and taking 240 others as hostages

Israel drafted a record 300,000 troops in its response and has been attacking Hamas in Gaza for 107 days now The Hamas-run Health Ministry says more than 25,000 people have been killed in Gaza in that time The Israeli Prime Minister also reiterated his opposition to an independent Palestinian State saying

Gaza must be under the full security control of Israel possibly responding to the US response after Friday’s phone conversation with Biden

John Kirby

“President Biden has made clear his strong conviction that a two-state solution, on is still the right path ahead, and we’re going to continue to make it.”

In that case, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that the US, Egypt, and Qatar are pushing Israel and Hamas to join a phased diplomatic process, citing diplomats involved in mediation. The three-step process reportedly includes the releasing of hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

Finally ending the war in Gaza, meanwhile, the Hamas media office released a statement on Sunday saying that there were quote faults in the October 7 attack, but the statement also said the attack was quoted to confront all Israeli conspiracies against the Palestinian people.
