Introduction:
So, everybody, it’s 2024, and one of Apple’s most anticipated products and venture into a new product category is set to release maybe even as early as late January or early February: the Apple Vision Pro. What I want to talk about are five reasons why I think the Vision Pro is going to be an absolute success, even though its bow is at the $3,500 price point, so definitely stick around because that last reason could be the final one that really kind of sets it over the top, but without further ado, let’s talk about the Vision Pro, everything to expect, and why I think it’s going to be successful.
What do we know?
And now before we get into all the amazing reasons why the Vision Pro is going to be an absolute success we’re going to talk about what we know so far in terms of what to expect from The Vision Pro so obviously, from a pricing standpoint it’s going to be $3,500 USD and it’s going to be only be sold in the US to begin with but we also know the battery situation so there’s no built-in battery to The Vision Pro itself you do have a 2-hour battery pack that is Tethered to the actual Vision Pro and that gives you like I said earlier it gives you two hours of kind of Mobile Battery but you will have kind of maybe like oh it’s going to be like a MAG saave battery pack size that you stick in your pocket and that’s going to be Tethered to the actual headset itself and then obviously you get unlimited time when you are directly plugged into a power
So that will be something to consider that you’re not going to be able to kind of run around with this for hours on end without having to at least move and kind of change out that tether battery pack and the rumor is that they’re going to be about 400,000 units
So this isn’t going to be a high-volume product. Apple is not expected to sell millions and millions of these to begin with so Apple starting with a short run of $400,000 but again at $3,500 a piece that’s going to add up very quickly and then this thing is going to be a full-fledged computer on its own We know that you do not need the rest of the Apple ecosystem to make this work as a main computer or a main device
Because it is going to be powered by the M2 Ultra and then there’s also going to be a dedicated chip called the R1 that’s going to be fully dedicated to processing all movements that are generated and seen by the cameras and the sensors so that little double tap that you app’s been trying to teach us with the Apple Watch Series 9 and the new Apple watch Ultra 2 that’s going to be the way main way of navigating as well as kind of vision and kind of moving your eyes around and your pupils to select different applications so that’s what the R1 chip is for just a purely process all of that movement and making sure that it’s very accurate and then lastly it’s been rumored that we’re probably going to see this first week of February maybe even as early as the last week of January on the shelves
And it’s going to come with a corresponding kind of launch event, so maybe expect the launch event to be at the end of this month and then the product on the shelves in early February. That remains yet to be seen, but I’m excited to see exactly when this comes out. But outside of that, we’ve seen some kind of emulation of what it’s going to look like, but we don’t really know everything that’s going to bring. I’m just excited to see what $3,500 gets us with the Vision Pro, but now let’s get into those reasons. So now that we have the specs out,
The Price
Of the way and what we know so far I think the first reason why it’s going to be a success is actually that expensive price point because the fact that Apple’s pricing it at $3,500 which for that price you can get an iPhone an iPad and a MacBook Air and have the whole Apple ecosystem right in front of you but for that price point Apple knows that this is not going to be for everybody this is going to be for somebody that really wants to test the bleeding edge that is very wrapped up in the Apple ecosystem and has that kind of disposable income to spend and you know Apple’s only making 400,000 units of this to start off so at $3500 they know that this is not going to sell you know millions of units moving forward
Because it’s for a certain type of individual but at the same time people like myself who have never really been into AR and VR headsets to begin with are going to actually reach and kind of try this out because they want to know why this is $3,500 because you have people like Facebook or meta that have their $300 $400 Oculus but also have their $1,000 Oculus Pro then you have Sony’s VR then you also have things like Microsoft and their their Hollow lens and things like that but for $3,500 we haven’t seen a consumer-grade VR AR headset at that price point so consumers are going to be expecting a lot which kind of adds to that Curiosity and that willingness to spend to see exactly what that bleeding edge looks like so the $3,500 price point
I think this is a net positive for Apple for the Vision Pro and reason number one is why I think it’ll be successful so reason number two has to
Reason 2: The Ecosystem
Be the ecosystem I know I mentioned earlier that for $3500 this could be a standalone product and it should be for that same price point because like I mentioned, you can get literally a Mac an iPad and an iPhone for that same $3,500 price but the Apple ecosystem is going to be the superpower of this Vision Pro like there are probably reasons why other ones haven’t really taken off at least in the masses, like the Oculus and things like that but I believe that the superpower is going to be the ecosystem of apple right being able to use your Mac and your iPad and your iPhone, and your Apple TV and your Apple watch and your air tags and your and your home kit and everything along those lines with your AR VR headset with your Vision Pro is going to be what’s going to set this apart right being able to maybe populate six or seven or eight different virtual screens that all stem from your actual
MacBook Air or your MacBook Pro or being able to maybe extend an application from your iPhone in into the Vision Pro screen or being able to have augmented reality kind of see other things that couldn’t be seen otherwise with like your regular Vision these are all things that are going to happen inside the Apple ecosystem and it’s going to be able to be unlocked with all these other Apple Hardware products and their software products again as a standalone product it should be good to go but at the same time the superpower is going to be in the ecosystem because that’s what Apple superpow has been for the last decade or even two decades now so now
Reason 3: Non-Isolating
let’s get into the third reason and leave some comments down below about what you think Apple’s going to be doing with division Pro are you excited for it are you going be be picking one up do you think it’s too expensive for Just One Singular tech product let me know in the comments but reason number three is that for the most part the reason I personally haven’t gone into the arvo world is because it seems very isolating my day-to-day is already a very isolating experience you know I’m in front of screens I’m in front of laptops I’m in my office all day you know I interact with people online but for the most part physically I’m not interacting with a lot of people so just adding the VR AR headset is just something that I don’t want to do especially not on my free time
I don’t want to be even further isolated by putting a kind of headset in front of my eyes and isolating myself even more but I think the way that Apple’s going to kind of sell this to people and how Apple’s portrayal of the Vision Pro in terms of comparing it to the other stuff in the market is that it’s not going to be isolating it’s going to be the opposite it’s going to be there to help you experience like the world in an even better way supposedly, you know you’re going to be able to have an eyesight pass through so Apple’s going to mimic
What your eyes look like so if you are in a room with people and you’re the only one with the Vision Pro headset it’s supposed to be not as kind of uh awkward to interact with that person because if you have because right now if you have an Oculus on your face it’s very isolating even for the person that doesn’t have it across from you because that person isn’t aware if you’re looking at them or if you’re trying to interact with them if you’re just playing a game or if you’re like online doing something but with the Vision Pro you will be able to actually figure out and see if you are interacting with the person across from you, which supposedly should help out in terms of that
The awkwardness of kind of being with somebody that doesn’t have the Vision Pro and then being with somebody that does have the Vision Pro so I think that Apple is going to implement this in a way that’s going to be very inclusive to everybody around you, then also they’re going to lean heavily on memories and lean heavily on Nostalgia and have you re-experience things that you already experience and that’s why Apple already released their spatial video on the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max to allow us to start to take that spatial video to then experience it later on on the Vision Pro itself, which I’ve already been doing so definitely stay tuned
Reason 4: Apple’s Marketing
Is going to have to be Apple’s marketing and then the look feel and premium nature of the device Apple’s going to throw this down our throats in my opinion right the same way that Apple’s been marketing us recently the Apple Watch and how it feels like if you don’t have an Apple Watch Ultra or the latest Apple watch it’s going to be a detriment to like your health if you’ve noticed the way that Apple markets their Apple Watch series right now it’s kind of like hey if you don’t have this thing you’re not going to know if you got to into a car crash or nobody’s going to be able to find you if you get lost in the wilderness or maybe your heart rate’s going to spike and you’re not going to be able to tell because you don’t have an Apple Watch
so Apple’s taking a big health approach and kind of this feeling of like, Hey if I don’t have an Apple Watch then nobody’s going to be aware of who I am where I am how I’m feeling what my medical stats are, and things like that I think Apple’s going to take a similar approach with the Apple Vision Pro like they’re going to throw this down on our throats be like Hey if you don’t have this it’s going to be a feeling of FOMO, you’re going to not be part of the bleeding edge and things like that but again Apple knows that at $3500 not everybody’s going to be able to have this but again it’s also a luxury and premium product in my opinion
Similar to you know, the latest and greatest iPhone people see that latest and greatest iPhone as almost a piece of jewelry and that’s how Apple sells it, and then the software is second to that premium hardware, and that look and feel is what going to be what Apple kind of puts down our throats For Better or For worse and it’s definitely going to work in my opinion so that’s the reason for number four why I think Apple’s going to sell out of these 400,000 units very quickly and reason number five
Reason 5: Developers Love Apple
I think this is going to be the most important reason is that developers are going to flock to The Vision Pro and the SDK and they’re going to want to code and develop for the Vision Pro as opposed to anything else you know think about it like the App Store versus the Play Store the reason the apps and the App Store are so consistent and they’re very reliable versus the Play Store is because they only have to code for one type of ecosystem they only have to code for like one iOS or one iPad OS yes there are different sizes and variables but even then there are only four different sizes of iPhones maybe five if you include the se but when you go into the Android world there are multiple manufacturers and each one of those manufacturers has multiple phone sizes
And each one of those phones has different specs, different speeds and different things that they can do with their internal chips so there’s just a lot more variability on the Android side and the Play Store side and the reason why those apps are so reliable and why for instance like your stories look better on Instagram on your iPhone versus Instagram let’s say on Android is because of the fact that there is less variability and coders and developers can get into the Apple ecosystem and code reliably knowing that hey this is going to go to an iPhone that’s been the same iPhone for years and the same iOS kind of protocol for years and years and it’s not anything new
And I think the same thing is going to apply to the Vision Pro, especially on the productivity side there’s going to be a lot of productivity software is floating around on the VR AR side of the Vision Pro and developers are going to be coding for that especially because it’s going to tie into the ecosystem like I mentioned before and I think the Vision Pro is going to be the ultimate ecosystem Tire It’s going to be an expensive one but I think being able to use the Apple Vision Pro with your the rest of your ecosystem whether it is your iPad your Mac your iPhone your Apple watch your Apple TV it’s going to be a kind of match made in heaven and that’s Apple’s the only one that can really do it this way
Maybe if Meta had a phone and a laptop and an iPad or a tablet they could do the same thing but for now Apple’s the only one that has all the hardware and software stacked up vertically completely and they own everything of that nature so having developers code into that and giving developers confidence that hey your application and all that work you’re going to put through is going to be well received on the Vision Pro and there’s absolutely a way to make money and to generate revenue on that end it’s going to be very easy to sell that to developers, so that is my final reason as to why I think the Vision Pro is going to be an absolute game changer and it’s going to be extremely successful.
Final thoughts
Everybody, let me know in some comments down below what you think of the Vision Pro. I still have a ton of questions. both just personally from a like product category side but then also I want to know how Apple’s going to implement this and what it’s going to look like with the rest of the ecosystem.
Is it a needed product? Why is it $3,500? Are they going to bring it down with a lesser Vision Pro in the Next Generation? all questions that I want to have answered and see exactly what it’s like. Once we get our hands on it to experience it, I’ll be able to kind of let you guys know exactly what I personally think and give you guys my final thoughts.
So I’m very excited to get it in the studio we will be picking one up we don’t get early access to one so we will be paying you know $3,500 to get one in the studio to try out to test out and to experience it alongside you guys so that’s going to do it for this video leave a little dolphin in the comments down below so I know you made it to the end and leave a bunch of questions about the Vision Pro about what you think what you want to see with the full review and just any other questions that you have in general but that’s going to do it everybody if you guys want to watch more Mac OS iOS Ipados videos click on one of these videos right here but until next time and I’m out of here everybody peace.
