Bill O’Brien Set To Become Next Offensive Coordinator At Ohio State

While in college football New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is leaving Foxboro to join Ryan Day’s staff at Ohio State, that is according to ESPN O’Brien has extensive experience at both the college and pro level over the years with the Patriots the Houston Texans pen State as well as

McDaniel Bill O'Brien

Bill O’Brien is going he’s been hired as the offensive coordinator at the Ohio State University formerly my favorite Collegiate program uh ending his sent with the Patriots after one season O’Brien led the Pat’s offense  yeah LED that offense to a dead-last finish in the league uh in scoring Gerard Mayo will now have to find a new offensive coordinator and I’m really excited that Ohio State is going to break its losing streak against Michigan because Bill is going to be leading the offense now but anyway in all seriousness O’Brien out from the Patriots going to college felger

Well just you the irony is so rich you’ve spent the last four months just bashing this guy killing him have rightfully so I mean worst in the league worse than Patricia How do you bring this guy back and then he goes to your Ohio State Puck guys?

It mean what I hope which is the Charlie Weiss Josh McDaniel Bill O’Brien offense is dead That’s that’s what I hope okay O’Brien out there’s been some Scuttle but that McDaniels might be in and that means that offense is back and again we’ll see what the crafts and Mayo bring in here but I think what the team desperately needs is a more modern they just need to turn the page on that offense it it served them exceptionally well for 20 years going back even you know before that okay but it’s time it’s time to get one of these fancy McVey Shanahan Reed kind of offenses those are easier on quarterbacks you’re going to have a Young quarterback in here in one way shape or form make it easy on that guy get one of those kind of coordinators attach him to the hip at with the quarterback we’ve been talking about this a lot  and this this clears the path for it so I do think it’s good news for the Patriots.

The bill o Brian’s hiring at offensive coordinator is a very good hire for Ohio State in my opinion this is a man that was a winning coach in the NFL I know Bill O’Brien is a polarizing figure he was 52 and 48 in the NFL we can go on and on about successful college coaches that did not do well in the NFL Nick Sabin Steve Spurrier Urban Meyer on and on and Bill O’Brien checks a lot of boxes very successful head coach at Penn State um offensive coordinator in the NFL Tom Brady worked with Tom Brady offensive coordinator of the college level high college level.

And he’s not coming here to be Ohio State’s head coach he’s coming here to be the offensive coordinator I think this is a very wise move by Ryan Day the best head coaches are usually CEOs they don’t call plays there are some exceptions so Ryan Day giving up play-calling duties bringing in Bill O’Brien I think it’s a very good hire for Ohio State again time will tell but Bill O’Brien checks a lot of boxes I felt for a long time that Ryan Day needed to be more of a CEO have a guy that he could just trust up in the Box to call the plays Ryan day will still be heavily involved in everything they do offensively I think this is a very good hire for Ohio State in.

Buckey’s fans hope that is the case as well look at O’Brien’s career spent the last season as Patriot’s offensive coordinator and QB coach also Alabama’s offensive coordinator and QB coach from 2021 to 22 he mentioned there 52 and 48 in Seven Seasons as the Texans head coach.

And 15 and N in two seasons as SP Penn State’s head coach from 2012 to 2013 so we’ll see if he has success with the Buckey this season and Beyond.
